About this Project
Defence Fencing was contracted to manufacture and install exterior balustrades, interior handrails and steel Pergola frames at a new residential property in Longlands Estate, Stellenbosch.
The balcony balustrades posts were manufactured with 50x8mm angle iron for the corners and 50x8mm flat bars for the intermediate stanchions. 4mm braided steel cable was used for the horizontal infills spaced at 100mm. For the top rail, we used a 60x25mm rectangular tube, and it’s good to note that the top rail is big enough to place a cup of coffee or a glass of wine on top.
The steel Pergola was manufactured with IPE180 and is fastened into the concrete beams with the use of 16mm high tensile steel rods and chemical anchors. All the mild steel used was hot-dipped galvanized and then powder coated.
The interior handrails were manufactured with profiled rectangular tubing and the strip lights were installed underneath to light up the staircase at night.
